Here are the minutes from the last Green Team Meeting…

 

Gregg Hall Green Team

Meeting Minutes :: 09/09/08

 

Participants: Birdie, Scott, Zach, Jeff, Colleen, Kathy, Kristin, Whitney

Next meeting: Sept 16, 1pm (place TBD)

 

1.      Ecological Office Footprint

We decided this would be a good starting point to see the current building use.  Birdie is going to work on this. Maybe we can work with the university (or residual life) –wide Energy Waste Watch Challenge (http://www.unh.edu/etf/challenge.html).  Colleen can make help if it’s a web survey or whatnot. Kristin will contact the 1^st and 4^th floors to see if they would like to be involved.

 

2.      Compost

Shannon and Birdie got this rolling – soon the large bin will be put outside.  Each floor has a small bin that will most likely need to be brought out daily.  Birdie will put up a weekly schedule for the 3^rd floor and Zac for the 2^nd (“popcorn”).  Colleen can help with the flyer to put on the fridge to let people know what can go in.

 

3.      Paper

Scott will work with Tom about double sided printing default.  We would like to know how much paper we’re using and decided to work with the ecological office footprint first.

 

4.      Computers

Turn off computer clusters at night: Scott will work with Tom

We need to let others in the building know about powering down at the end of the day (part of outreach?).

 

5.      Motion sensors: for kitchen, Scott

 

6.      Dual flush for bathrooms: Scott

 

7.      Green roof on membrane: Scott

 

8.      Phantom Energy: Get power strips for the TV’s – Jeff

 

9.      Bike Racks

Kevin Gardner had suggested assignable, covered, locked bike storage to encourage bike commuting.  The bike rack outside Gregg currents floods.  Jeff is going to work on this.

 

10.  Outreach, Communication, Education, Awareness

The Green Team needs more members, others in the building, undergrads etc.  We need a way to educate the users in the building of issues or changes made.  Maybe we should have a mandatory meeting to ERG – maybe we can incorporate the meeting with something fun (e.g., cupcake competition).  Hopefully word will get out that there is a Green Team.

 

11.  Maybe next time: Kil-a-watt

 

Tasks:

Birdie: Ecological office footprint, compost disposal schedule (3^rd floor)

 

Kristin: Email 1^st and 4^th floors for ecological footprint and possibility of installing light sensors, etc.

 

Zach: Compost disposal schedule (2^nd floor)

 

Colleen: Web survey for ecological footprint (if needed), flyer for fridge for compost

 

Scott: Double sided printing and power down for clusters, dual flush, green roof, motion sensors

 

Jeff: TV power strips, bike rack
